Seven Springs 2010
For those of you not on facebook, attached are some pics of our trip to Seven Springs last weekend. Can't wait to go back! It's nothing compared to Colorado but great for those in PA! Saw some pics of other friends that skied in Colorado recently. Ah, you just can't beat the view. We'll get there sometime! It's just hard to choose snow over a beach vacation. :)

Healing Scriptures

Attached is a website with inspiring scriptures for healing. My family has been through a lot lately and scriptures like these have given much support. Time and time again I have seen God's healing power. These are not experiences that I ever wish to repeat but I am grateful for them as they have brought me and my family closer to our heavenly father. There is nothing he can not do! Praise the Lord!!!

The History of Ethiopia, Abyssinia & The Rulers
The Ethiopian kingdom was founded (10th cent. B.C.) by Solomon's first son, Menelik I, whom the queen of Sheba is supposed to have borne. However, the first kingdom for which there is documentary evidence is that of Aksum (Axum), a kingdom which probably emerged in the 2d cent. A.D., thus making Ethiopia the oldest independent country in Africa and one of the most ancient in the world. Immigrants (mainly traders) from S Arabia who had been settling in N Ethiopia since about 500 B.C. influenced the economy and culture of Ethiopia. Aksum controlled much of the Red Sea coast and had links with the Mediterranean world.

Ethiopic
Ethiopic is not the only calendar in Ethiopia either. The works of Enoch (hnk) had been in Ethiopia and Egypt before the times of Moses and on through the times of King Solomon and Queen of Sheba. As has been the case for Israel, Egypt and Ethiopia have had important roles in Biblical History. An Enochian year is completed in 364 days, Enoch 82:4-7 and Jubilees 6:23-28. More precisely, a 365-day-solar-year and the 365-year-solar-cycle appear as a 365-days-and-years single term. From the three books of Enoch, a curious 364-day length of calendar year lends new insight by reserving the last day of the solar year. Ethiopians followed the Old Testament before the introduction of Christianity (1 Kings 10:1-9).

New Year's Resolution "2010"

I've never been one to give much thought to New Year's Resolutions. Usually they are filled with a bunch of empty promises you make to yourself and never intend to keep. BUT, this year I'm giving it a try. My resolution is to educated myself and those close to me on everything concerning Ethiopia. This will be important to my child, therefore it is important to me. I've obviously already spent a great deal of time researching Ethiopia but now it's time to dig deeper. Below is the beginning of many posts I plan to make regarding this beautiful country and the culture. The following information was taken from one of my favorite blogs.
Ethiopian Flag Meaning:
The colored stripes on the Ethiopian flag are significant - the red stripe stands for power, faith and blood; the yellow symbolizes peace, natural wealth and love; and the green represents the land and hope. The colors were also interpreted to have a connection to the Holy Trinity, and the three main provinces of Ethiopia. The star represents unity of the people and the races that make up Ethiopia. The five rays on the outside of the star represent prosperity and the blue disk represents peace.
The three equal horizontal bands of green (top), yellow, and red with a yellow pentagram and single yellow rays emanating from the angles between the points on a light blue disk centered on the three bands; Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa, and the three main colors of her flag were so often adopted by other African countries upon independence that they became known as the pan-African colors.
